My experience and education has taught me that working with schools to create change is the best way to impact many individuals. While I worked for Play Rugby USA in an elementary school, I worked with administrators, teachers, and other after-school staff to develop a structure for communication and disciplinary actions. As an Adjustment Counselor Intern at the Dearborn Middle School, I worked with the family coordinator, school counselors, and teachers to understand the resources available to students there. I developed and proposed a plan to improve communication between the school and all of its available resources (please see below). As a Zone Facilitator at Boston Latin Academy, I work with guidance counselors and teachers to develop strategies to help students succeed in the classroom and in athletics.
Below are a few proposals that I created as a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In creating these proposals and working with school administrators, school counselors, family coordinators, teachers, etc., I learned to appreciate the strength and passion these people bring to interventions. I also created a Theory of Change, which provides a logical framework for the development of a program's goal and a map for achieving that goal. By working with a school to effectively plan and implement interventions and preventions, I can positively affect all students and staff in a system.

proposed School communication improvement plan
for the dearborn middle school
When I was interning at RALLY, I developed a communication and engagement improvement plan for the Dearborn Middle School. This research informed plan includes a brief description of 3 steps the Dearborn can take to improve their communication and engagement: 1) Establish united goals and action steps, 2) Set up bidirectional communication systems, and 3) Hold community partners and individuals accountable. Activities and resources for each step are also included.
proposed Community Coordinator Theory of change project
During my education at Harvard's Graduate School of Education, I learned how to develop a Theory of Change. For a class project, I researched a school in New York City and developed a Theory of Change that incorporated a Community Coordinator position into the school. This position offered leadership in meetings, enrichment opportunities for resources, and the development of advocacy for resources. By incorporating these activities into the school day, the Community Coordinator could impact the school and community by improving the relationships and collaboration efforts between the school's resources and helping more students graduate from high school and be better prepared for college or a career.
